SOUTHINGTON - A Hamden woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating a man with a flashlight at the Lake Compounce campground, leaving him with a head laceration that required three staples.
Alina Stein, 23, is facing charges of second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.
Police were called to the campground at Lake Compounce Thursday, at about 9:45 a.m. There, they found a man who had a cut to his head and bite marks on his arm, according to the police report. The man, who said he has been dating Stein for the past three weeks, was treated at the scene by medics and taken to Bristol Hospital, where it took three staples to close the cut to his head.
According to the report, the victim - who has not been identified because of the state’s domestic violence laws - said Stein was drinking overnight and became very intoxicated, so he hid the alcohol from her. This upset Stein, the report said, so she started punching him all over his body and later allegedly used a flashlight to hit his head while the two were in a tent together.
Stein, the man alleges, also bit his arm three times, the report said.
Police said Stein, who was near the tent when officers arrived, had what looked like blood stains on her shirt. Police also noticed a flashlight on the ground near the tent.
When police spoke to Stein, she denied any violence between herself and the complainant and said she was not at the tent for most of the night. She was arrested and held in custody.
Stein was arraigned Friday in Bristol Superior Court, where officials said she has another case pending in which she is facing a second-degree assault charge. She was ordered held on $10,000 bond, and her case was continued to Aug. 6.
Stein was also ordered not to contact the victim while the case is pending.
