PLYMOUTH -- Police late Monday found an injured man who had been reported missing.

Officers were searching a wooded area along Bemis Street after receiving the report that Mark Viacek of Terryville had gone for a walk and never returned. He was last known to be walking in the area of the IGA store on Main Street.

On Monday, just before midnight, police said they found Viacek alert and conscious. He was suffering from a leg injury and was unable to walk out of the wooded area on his own, police said.

Police said they were helped by medics and firefighters in getting Viacek out of the woods and into an ambulance. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police credited Sgt. Ken Kolpa with finding Viacek and helping him get to safety.
