Bristol, Plymouth all in 'red alert' status for coronavirus cases; state nears 2.2 million fully vaccinated

New Britain, Bristol and Plymouth are all marked as “red alert” status due to a high number of coronavirus cases. Plainville, Southington and Newington are all classified as “orange alert” status, while Berlin is in “yellow alert.”

The state released the new status updates Thursday.

There have been 2,195,300 state residents who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to state health officials Thursday. There have been 2,389,092 residents who have received at least one shot of the vaccine.

For those over the age of 65 in the state, 97% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

For those between 55 and 64, 87% have received at least one dose; it’s 77% for those between 45 and 54; 75% for those between 35 and 44; 69% for those between 25 and 34; 63% for those between 18 and 24; 72% for those between 16 and 17; and 58% for those between 12 and 15.

There are currently 247 covid patients in hospitals across the state, including 73 in Hartford County.
