PLYMOUTH – Mayor David Merchant provided updates on road repairs Friday.

Merchant said that several road projects are underway in town with more to come.

“Locally, we’ve done a lot of paving,” said Merchant. “We just did Orchard Street and we’re about to undertake Preston Road and Meghan Boulevard starting in the next week or so. Our crews will be on the stretch of Preston Road between Harwinton Ave. and Schroback Road and there will be detours put into place.”

The repaving of Harwinton Ave., from Seymour Road to Route 6, is currently underway. Shultz Corporation, a local company, was awarded the bid for this $2 million project.

“That work should be done by late fall,” said Merchant.

Merchant said that the widening of Main Street is also moving forward.

“The state is in the procurement phase of that project,” he said. “We’re on track for construction to begin around this time next year.”
