STAFF REPORT

For the first time in reporting COVID-19 positive cases and related deaths, the Department of Health is making two classifications to each list, those that are “confirmed” and those that are “probable.” Previously, those two numbers were simply being combined.

“Probable cases of COVID-19 involve persons who have not had confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID-19, but whose symptoms indicate they are very likely to have a COVID-19 infection,” the state said in its Monday report.

While many of the numbers have changed, the one thing that remained consistent in the report was the fact patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped again, with 27 less patients than the day before. The total now stands at 454 in all of Connecticut.

There have been a total of 40,670 positive COVID-19 cases in the state since testing began, with another 2,070 probable. There have been 3,110 confirmed COVID-19-associated deaths, with another 854 considered probable.

Locally, each city or town has two numbers of COVID-19 positive cases as well.
