The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference released its girls soccer brackets for the 2021 fall postseason Friday, with a handful of teams in the postseason mix.
In Class LL, Southington (9-1-6) opens play as the No. 8 seed, getting a first round pairing with No. 25 Darien (6-8-1). First kick will come at at 5 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Southington.
Winner of the game will have a chance to face either No. 9 Staples (9-2-4) or No. 24 NFA (5-7-4). The winner from both games will play at the higher ranked team's field.
Further down the Class LL bracket is No. 5 Newington (10-2-3), who will receive a first round bye. The Nor'easters await the winner of No. 12 Fairfield Warde (10-4-2) or No. 21 Trumbull (6-6-4), with the winner moving on to face Newington on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in Newington.
Bristol Eastern (5-8-2) snuck into the playoffs as the No. 27 seed in Class LL, and will get a date with No. 6 E.O. Smith (10-2-4).
Kickoff from E.O. Smith will come at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, with the winner getting a chance to face either No. 11 Ellington (8-2-6) of No. 22 East Haven (6-8-2) at the higher-ranked team.
In Class L, No. 17 Berlin (7-4-5 will open play against No. 16 Guilford (8-5-3) with a chance to move on to fave top-ranked St. Joseph (15-0-1). The Redcoats' game against Guilford will be played at Guilford on Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.
In Class M, Plainville (8-4-4) is the lone representative from the New Britain Herald and Bristol Press area. The Blue Devils enter the tournament as the No. 17 team in the field and will take on No. 16 Lewis Mills (9-5-1) in the first round.
Similar to Berlin's playoff route, the winner of Plainville's game will take on the top-ranked team in the bracket - Nonnewaug (15-1-0).
Kickoff for Plainville's game will come at 4 p.m. on Nov. 8th at Lewis Mills.
In Class S Innovation (7-5-2) is another team who will have a chance to take on a top ranked opponent. Innovation's postseason run starts as the No. 16 seed, taking on No. 17 Lyman Memorial (8-6-1).
Kick from Innovation's opening playoff round will come at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.
Should the Ravens win, MLC (11-1-2) awaits them in the second round.
St. Paul (9-7-0) opens postseason play against No. 15 Granby (7-4-5). The No. 18 Falcons need a win to face Holy Cross (13-2-1), who enjoy the benefit of a bye.
