Fall sports are back and officially kicked off the season Thursday night. With the green light still on for the 2021 fall season, area teams have gone through preseason prepping for a postseason push with team’s still aiming for a class title.

Teams are still subject to cancellations and postponements due to COVID-19, but as of opening day, all teams have steered clear of outbreaks and are on pace for a full, healthy season.

New Britain

Conference outlook: “The CCC South looks balanced with Bristol Central and Plainville returning some key veterans. Overall, our schedule includes the top-10 teams in the CCC, so every game will be tough.”

Team outlook: “We’ve been playing better with each scrimmage and if we stay healthy, we should be a problem for any team we play. The defense has been built and is beginning to communicate well and we’ve had some good scoring moments early on.”

Newington

Conference outlook: “Unknown due to last year’s COVID restrictions and conference realignments. We failed to see some of our normal opponents to assess their strengths and weaknesses.”

Team outlook: “We have a pretty solid core with at least two returning starters in each of the team’s main areas. We lost 17 goals (scored from graduating players) and will look for incoming freshmen and surprises to pick up the slack. We could challenge for the conference or end up in the middle of the pack, depending on the incoming players.”

Terryville

Head coach: George Smith (1st season
