The Southington girls swim team began its season on Wednesday night, and walked away with a strong performance by a bunch of usual suspects.
The Blue Knights defeated Plainville by a score of 92-80, led by the medley relay team of Meghan Hammarlund, Jenna Famiglietti, Maddie Symecko and Andie Nadeau, which came in first place with a time of 2:00.71. The 200 freestyle relay team of Nadeau, Jenna Jekubovich, Kendall Noonan and Ella Nadeau also came in first, finishing with a time of 2:00.71. The 400 freestyle relay team also took first, with Ella Nadeau, Symecko, Noonan and Hammarlund contributing to a finishing time of 4:04.26.
Ella Nadeau was a double winner in individual events, coming in first in the 200 freestyle (2:01.06) and the 500 freestyle (5:30.63). Andie Nadeau also won two events, besting the competition in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 27.01 and 59.01, respectively.
Hammarlund was the third double winner for the Blue Knights, winning the 100 butterfly (1:03.21) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.98). Symecko won the individual medley with a time of 2:25.45, while Famiglietti took home the 100 breaststroke.
