Plainville football quarterback Griffin runs for four touchdowns as Blue Devils beat East Catholic

MANCHESTER - Plainville quarterback Frank Griffin ran for four touchdowns as the Blue Devils pulled away in the second half for a 49-15 victory on the road over East Catholic on Friday night.

Plainville took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter before East Catholic answered to make it 14-7. But then Griffin ran three times for 61 yards and a touchdown as the Blue Devils took a 21-7 lead into halftime and the game was never close again.

Christian Collin came up with a key interception to stop an East Catholic drive and Griffin broke free for a long touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in the second half for a 28-7 lead.

Brady Callahan contributed a touchdown and also had an interception in East Catholic’s end zone as the Blue Devils maintained control. Then Griffin had another pair of touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

Plainville improved to 4-3, while East Catholic fell to 3-4.
