PLAINVILLE - The Bristol Central boys basketball is headed to the postseason for the fifth consecutive season.

With Saturday’s 62-40 win over Plainville, the Rams punched their ticket to the Class L tournament. Bristol Central has flip-flopped back and forth between Class L and LL but have not missed the postseason since 2011.

Jaekwon Spencer and Alex Bernier led the way for the Rams against the Blue Devils, with Spencer scoring 18 points and Bernier adding 16. Luis Diaz was the only other Bristol Central player to reach double digits with 10.

Plainville’s offense was paced by Jared Demmons, with 14 points, and Brady Callahan, who picked up 10.

The Rams are now 8-9 with three games remaining in the season. Last season’s Bristol Central team finished with an 8-12 mark. Plainville remained winless after the loss, climbing to 0-17.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Three players scored at least 10 points for Watertown (12-6), as well, but could not pull out the win.
