PLAINVILLE – The Plainville Rotary Club is offering a “September Fest”, featuring beer, wine and spirit tasting, Sept. 23 at the VFW.

The September Fest, supported by Worldwide Wine & Spirits, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the VFW at 7 Northwest Drive. It will feature 20 vendors for visitors to sample and there will also be door prizes and music from a DJ. Proceeds will support the local Plainville Rotary Club.

“Come out, bring your own snacks and enjoy a fun night,” said Sue Abram, co-president of the Plainville Rotary Club with Sally Miller. “All of the money we raise will go back into the community.”

According to the Plainville Rotary Club website, Plainville Rotary Club supports those in need locally and internationally. The club’s motto is "We Do Good in the World.”

“Over the last few years we have supported The Food Pantry, PARC, The Cub Scouts, The Senior Center, and many High School Seniors with scholarships,” the site reads. “On the International front Your Plainville Rotary has supported the ShelterBox, Water Projects and more.

Abram said that the Plainville Rotary Club supports the town by awarding $30,000 each year in scholarships for Plainville High School seniors.

This year, the Plainville Rotary Club also held its first veterans’ breakfast. They plan to hold another around November, which will be announced later this year.

“We had about 80 veterans who attended; it went very well,” she said.

In October and November, the Plainville Rotary Club will also be conducting a raffle, awarding cash prizes of $2,500 for first place, $1,000 for second place and $500 for third place.

“We’ll be selling 400 tickets for $20 a ticket,” said Abram.

Other major fundraisers for the Plainville Rotary Club include their annual Penny Sale and golf tournament.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

They can be purchased wt Worldwide Wine & Spirits at 480 Queen St., Southington, via Venmo to Plainville Rotary @Robert-Yudkin or by calling Shirley Osley at 860-256-7813.
