PLAINVILLE -- A local high school student was struck by a car Tuesday morning.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The incident was reported shortly after 7 a.m., in a crosswalk in the area of East Street and Robert Holcomb Way. The crosswalk is about a quarter of a mile away from the high school.

The driver involved, who did not report any injuries, stopped and cooperated.

School officials say they are working with police on a short-term plan to make the crosswalk safer until a permanent solution is found.

No other details about the accident were immediately released Tuesday.
