PLAINVILLE -- A Torrington man has pleaded guilty to exposing himself at a local retail store.

Jean Leconte, 33, accepted a plea deal Wednesday in New Britain Superior Court.

According to judicial records, he pleaded guilty to one count of public indecency. One count of second-degree breach of peace is expected to be dropped.

Leconte is free without having to post bond. He has not yet been sentenced and is due back in court on Oct. 29.

According to the police report in the case, Leconte was seen on surveillance cameras on June 3, 2020, inside Kohl’s, located at 200 New Britain Ave., removing his genitalia from his pants and masturbating while inside the shoe department.

An employee told police he saw Leconte remove a small plastic bottle from his pocket before applying what was inside to his penis, the report continued. Leconte later told police the substance was cooking oil.

Police who responded found stains on the floor where Leconte was seen. Officers could not determine if the substance was cooking oil or a bodily fluid.

Police noted at the time they wrote their report that the Torrington resident had other pending cases for similar behavior. According to judicial records, Leconte was arrested by Winchester police in October 2018 and New Milford police in November of 2019. In each arrest, he was charged with public indecency, among other charges.
