PLAINVILLE – PARC is planning the 20th Annual Helen & Danny Coughlin Memorial Walk, their first fundraiser in over a year, which will be held Oct. 9 at Norton Park.
PARC, Inc. located at 28 E. Maple St., is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization that has been providing family-centered support for caregivers of those with intellectual disabilities and individuals in their care for 64 years.
The 20th Annual Helen & Danny Coughlin Memorial Walk has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9 at Norton Park, with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 10. It will start with registration at 9 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. and then the walk. The theme is 'Moving Forward Together.'
"The Helen & Danny Coughlin Memorial Walk has always been one of the largest and most popular fundraisers and we’re optimistic that people will be eager to get involved in this event as sponsors, walkers or volunteers," said Erica Donovan, PARC executive director."
Walk organizers are setting a goal of 200 sponsors and 200 participants. Sponsorships – being referred to as “PARCnerships” - are being accepted now for levels from $50 (bronze) to $2,000 (MVP). Each level will receive special perks and sponsors will be featured in signage. Signups for teams and individuals are underway. A chili cook-off will also be held with entrants welcome.
The walk is named after Danny Coughlin, an original PARC member from the nonprofit’s founding 61 years ago and Helen Coughlin, Danny’s mother, one of the founders of PARC.
