NEW BRITAIN – The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 107th Annual Meeting virtually on Zoom this Thursday at 8 a.m.
Several local businesses and individuals will be honored at the virtual meeting.
“We are delighted to recognize several of Greater New Britain’s leading businesses and individuals,” Greater New Britain Chamber President William D. Moore said. “These businesses and individuals have made, and continue to make, significant impacts in our community. Their leadership affects our area in so many ways. We are fortunate to have so many dedicated individuals and businesses leading the way for Greater New Britain.”
Those being recognized include: William Tomasso, principal of The Tomasso Group, who will receive the Distinguished Community Service Award; Jasko Development, LLC, represented by Chairman and CEO Avner Krohn, which will receive the Beehive Business and Industry Award; Calciano & Stern Appraisal Associate, represented by Jim Calciano, will receive the Winged Victory Downtown; Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, represented by Paul Zagorsky, Esq., chair, and David Obedzinski, executive director, will receive the Non-Profit Organization of the Year; Angelo’s Market, represented by Joe Tropea, proprietor, will receive the Family Business Award; Euro-American Homecare, LLC, represented by Maggie Drag, president, will receive the Berlin Business of the Year Award; and Associated Insurance Services, represented by Steve Nims, president, will receive the Plainville Business of the Year Award.
“In addition to honoring these distinguished leaders and businesses, we will be thanking several members of our Board of Directors who are completing their terms,” Moore said.
The outgoing directors include: Michael Carrier, principal, Weber and Carrier, LLP; Paul D’Addabbo, CIC, principal, Insurance Associates, Inc.; Peter Knaus, president, Knaus Building Co.; Michael Schroeder, editor and publisher, The New Britain Herald and The Bristol Press; and William Tomasso, principal, The Tomasso Group.
“We are privileged to have such dedicated individuals providing distinguished leadership for our community,” Moore said. “These directors have invested thousands of hours working to make Greater New Britain a wonderful place to live, work and play. Their service is truly to be celebrated.”
This year’s annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the Board of Directors meeting and the chamber will be electing officers for 2021. Those nominated include: Kyle Kummer, from Mass Mutual Financial Group, for chair; Richard Dighello, shareholder, Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, PC for vice chair; Frank Marrocco, principal, from Frank D. Marrocco Accountants, for treasurer; and William D. Moore, president of Greater New Britain Chamber for decretary.
The 107th Annual Meeting is sponsored by Stanley Black & Decker, Central Connecticut State University and the New Britain Herald.
“We are sorry that we have to scale back this much-anticipated event, however, we are mindful of the challenges presented by the pandemic and want to be sure that we remain safe,” Moore said.
