PLAINVILLE - A local man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting another man, rendering him unconscious.

Julian Marcuccio, 22, of 7 Beckwith Drive, is accused of punching and kicking the man after he fell to the ground, sending him to the hospital, according to the police report.

He faces charges of second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

According to the report, Marcuccio called police on Saturday around 12:15 p.m. and said he and the victim had gotten into a fight.

Marcuccio told dispatchers the man had pulled a knife during the dispute.

Numerous officers responded to Marcuccio’s residence and found the man lying face down in the bedroom. He had cuts on his face and complained of head pain.

The man told police he had a knife that he tried to use to defend himself against Marcuccio, but ended up cutting himself accidentally. He also said Marcuccio had attacked him and continued to punch and kick him in the head after he fell to the floor, according to the report. The man said he believes he lost consciousness.

According to the report, the man was in intense pain and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Marcuccio was arrested and held over the weekend on bond. He was expected to be arraigned on Monday in New Britain Superior Court.
