PLAINVILLE – The Friends of the Plainville Public Library will be hosting their semiannual book sale Friday, Sept. 20, and Saturday, Sept. 21.

The sale will be held in the Chase Auditorium of the library at 56 E. Main St. from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.

Beyond having a wide selection of books for sale, the Friends also offer DVDs and CDs for 50 cents each or 3 for $1.

On Friday night, a $3-per-family admission fee will be charged. Saturday admission is free. For the last hour of the sale on Saturday, from 2 to 3 p.m., customers are invited to fill a bag, with $3 charged for the contents of the first bag, and $1 each for the contents of subsequent bags.

Proceeds from the sale, and other Friends fundraising efforts, not only cover costs of all library programs, but also special requests for equipment and services not routinely covered in the library’s municipal budget.

Donations in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The Friends do not accept reference books, encyclopedias, textbooks, computer books, VHS tapes, cassettes, or any items containing mold or having musty odors.

Volunteers are needed to sort donations from Tuesday, Sept. 17, through Thursday, Sept. 19. If interested, call the library at 860-793-1446.
