BRISTOL - State Rep. William Petit Jr., educators, board members, municipal employees, family and friends gathered to celebrate Maureen Brummett’s 21 years of service to the Plainville School District.

Brummett joined the school district as a teacher in 1997 and held various roles before taking the job of Plainville school superintendent in 2016.

Petit, who represents Plainville and New Britain, said “Maureen was always available, if I called or texted her with a question about something, even if she didn’t have an answer, she would always get back to me, even if it was late at night.”

During the farewell ceremony, Rep. Petit presented Brummett with a legislative citation on behalf of himself, state Sen. Henri Martin, and the Connecticut General Assembly. Brummett has accepted the same position with the Newington School District.

“It’s bittersweet because Maureen will be leaving us, but at the same time we are extremely fortunate to have former Assistant Superintendent Steven LePage taking over for her,” Petit said.
