PLAINVILLE - A local man has been sentenced to four months in prison for driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle.

Karol Stasiulewicz, 30, of 158 Stillwell Drive, accepted a plea deal Friday during his hearing in Bristol Superior Court. He pleaded guilty to one count of DUI. One count of risk of injury to a minor was dropped.

According to state prosecutors, Stasiulewicz picked up his 4-year-old daughter from the YMCA on Jan. 22. He then headed home and was seen pulling into his driveway by police.

Officers said he smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He failed multiple field sobriety tests and registered 0.21 and a 0.22 on a breathalyzer, prosecutors said.

Stasiulewicz was treated as an enhanced offender, as he had been convicted of DUI in 2015.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended after service of 120 days, and two years of probation. The 120 days was the minimum mandatory sentence that he could receive as a second-time DUI offender.

Stasiulewicz will also have to pay a $1,000 fine.
