NEWINGTON – Police now believe the same man who grabbed and threatened a clerk while robbing a Berlin Turnpike gas station Wednesday night was responsible for three other robberies in West Hartford and Plainville.
The man was carrying a long barrel revolver-type handgun in images captured from the Newington Sunoco gas station surveillance cameras, police said. He was also carrying a similar black gun during robberies in West Hartford on April 19 and 23 and in Plainville on April 21, West Hartford police said.
A witness at the gas pumps at the Sunoco station at 3191 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, called police at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to report that it appeared a robbery was in progress with the assailant physically grabbing the clerk, police said.
The witness told police she saw the robber leave the gas station and run south across Richard Street toward the 7-Eleven convenience store where she believed he got into a small dark-colored sedan.
The clerk said the robber grabbed and threatened him and then demanded money. The robber then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The surveillance cameras showed the man carrying a fistful of cash out the door.
Anyone with information on that robbery asked to call the Newington Police Department at 860-666-8445.
Police in West Hartford are now saying that they believe the same man was responsible for the two robberies in their town at Supreme Gas at 141 Park Road and at a Sunoco gas station at 380 New Britain Avenue, Plainville.
He may be driving a small, dark sedan, West Hartford police said.
Anyone with information on the West Hartford robberies should call 860-523-5203. Anyone with information on the Plainville robbery should call 860-747-1616.
