PLAINVILLE - New and continuing town council members were sworn in during Monday’s organizational meeting.

Republican Katherine Pugliese will serve again as Council Chair and Republican Scott Saunders as Vice-Chair.

“The leadership positions are continuing, but there are two new members of the council,” said Town Manager Robert E. Lee.

Ty Cox is joining as a Republican councilor and Jesse Gnazzo is joining as a Democratic councilor.

The council is a 4 - 3 Republican majority, according to Lee.

The council will hold its first regular meeting of the newly elected members next Monday.

This Thursday a public information session will be held on the sewer project. This project will work to reduce the amount of phosphorous that the waste treatment plant puts into the Pequabuck river through a $15.7 million upgrade partially funded by state grants. Plainville residents are invited to attend Thursday at 7 p.m.

A referendum will also be held on Jan. 30.
