PLAINVILLE – Plainville Public Library Director Doug Lord has left his position under unknown circumstances.

Carrie Burgess, who was previously assistant director at the library and is now the interim director at the library, said that the library would not be discussing the circumstances of Lord’s departure yet. Lord was previously a librarian at the New Britain Public Library and assumed the director position after the retirement of his predecessor, Peter Chase.

“He was moved to another position,” said Burgess on Thursday. “This was done last Friday.”

Burgess confirmed that the Library Board of Trustees would be meeting to discuss the library’s next step. According to the Plainville town website, the Board is scheduled to meet next Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the library.
