PLAINVILLE – A local man was held on $100,000 bond after he allegedly attacked a woman in front of a two-year-old Monday evening.
Terez Barnes, 31, of 19 Maple St., was charged with numerous offenses including first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault and first-degree unlawful restraint.
The woman told police she and Barnes had been at a family party in Coventry where both were drinking. When he became argumentative, she left for Plainville with the child, she said. Barnes followed her to her address and used a wood log to smash a glass door to gain entry into the house, she said.
He then knocked her to the floor, hit her and grabbed her throat, she said. He left with his brother and had guns in the car, the woman told police. When officers arrived the woman had visible contusions on her face and upper body. She also had a broken rib, police said. The child was about 10 feet away as the assault was occurring, she said.
Barnes was found in the car and was taken into custody, police said. He admitted to smashing the door with a log but denied assaulting the woman.
He was held on $100,000 bond until his appearance in Bristol Superior Court today.
