Cecile Theresa Armstrong Iskra passed away peacefully at her home in Bristol, on Sept. 16, 2022. Ceil was born to John & Loretta Armstrong in Lewiston, ME in 1936. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn, ME. Shortly after graduating high school, Ceil moved to CT where she raised her three sons.

Ceil spent her entire career caring for others as a nurse’s aide. She was so compassionate, kind, and funny. She worked for many years at Newington Children’s Hospital, and developed long lasting friendships with many of the patients she took care of over the years. Her “kids” as she called them, adored her so much. She was invited to their weddings, celebrations, and family events for years to come. After retiring from the hospital, she worked as an aide for a local family to care for their special needs adult daughter. They adored Ceil and considered her a part of their family. Ceil’s love language was indeed caring for others who couldn’t care for themselves.

Ceil spent several years enjoying her conversion van and the great van jam club festivals. She loved watching her favorite TV shows, cooking, and her cats. Most of all, she loved her family. Special times included family picnics at the Polish Club, gatherings at the lake, and celebrating at the homes of family & friends. You could always count on her to be laughing, as she had a great sense of humor. She wouldn’t pass up the chance to spend time with her grandkids whom she adored.

Ceil was predeceased by her husband Thaddeus Iskra, her son Aaron Iskra, and her brother, John P. Armstrong. Ceil is survived by her two sons; Richard Iskra of Arlington, Texas and Steven Iskra of Beverly, MA; four precious grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, (Danielle Iskra-Mong, Marc Iskra, Devon Iskra, Steven Iskra); her sister Constance E. Adams, several nieces, and a nephew.

She was a woman of deep faith and a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church in Bristol.
