For many years she was a volunteer in the Bristol Hospital Auxiliary, and was a strong supporter of Bristol’s children’s Imagine Nation Museum. She loved entertaining, gardening, and was a member of the Bristol Garden Club for many years. She also loved to read, and was a member of the Polymnia and Gamma Reading Clubs. She was a lifelong member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She and her husband traveled around the world and loved their fall vacations with their family on Nantucket Island. They also loved socializing and playing bridge with their close group of friends.

She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert, and is survived by her sister Joyce Douglas of Southington. She was the loving mother of four daughters and three sons-in-law; Susan Allaire and Joanne, and Alan James of Bristol, Nancy and Keith Huber of Canton, and Polly and Michael Coetzee of Sydney Australia. She especially loved her five granddaughters, Becky Huber and Kate, and husband Peter Carpenter, Kelsey James, Emily Coetzee and Jessica Coetzee and her partner Tyler O’Keeffe. Extra special love was shared with her great-grandchildren Hope James, Carter and Skylah O’Keeffe, and several nieces and nephews.
