Lavern “Fuzzy” Goodwin, 89 of Bristol, passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022 at Countryside Manor.  Fuzzy was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Cathy (LaFountain) Goodwin.  He was born in Terryville on July 6, 1933, and was one of five children to the late Hubert and Florence (Gaylord) Goodwin.

He was always smiling and if you were one of the lucky ones you’d receive a wink too! In his early days he loved life in the fast lane. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed attending local fairs to watch the Draft Horse Pull, usually first on site to see the horse teams come in. He enjoyed hitting the slots at the casino with anyone who would join. As a host, empty glasses weren’t allowed. He truly loved to people watch, whether from his front porch or through the window at Countryside.

He loved to start his day at Palma’s Diner where he was known as “Fuzzyman” by the owner Rena.  Prior to retirement, he worked for the Town of Burlington, E.R. Hinman & Sons, Dunning Sand and Gravel (30+ years), Martin Laviero, and Nelson’s Trucking. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the town of Burlington, and was a member of the Burlington Men’s Club.

Fuzzy is survived by his two sons: Rick Goodwin and his wife Cindy, and Tim “Fuzzy” Goodwin; his daughter: Diane Greene and her husband, Matthew; his grandchildren: Bret and Keith Goodwin and his fiancée Amber Sacchi, Jena (Greene) Spatkowski and her husband Kevin, and Jodi (Greene) Constant and her husband Charles; his great-granddaughters: McKayla and Violet Goodwin, Hailey and Leighton Rae Spatkowski; his sister-in-laws: Joan LaFountain and Christine Howland; his three brother-in-laws: Howard LaFountain, Vincent LaFountain and Robert LaFountain; as well as several nieces and  nephews.

Fuzzy was predeceased by his two brothers: Wilbur “Bo” Goodwin and Clifford Goodwin, husband of Dolores; two sisters: Beverly Mayhew, wife of Kenneth, and Beatrice White, wife of Robert; two brothers-in-law: Henry LaFountain, husband of Diane and Edmund LaFountain; and three sisters-in-law: Barbara Bishop, wife of Gene, Eva Calver, wife of Bob and Izzy LaFountain.  The family extends appreciation for all of the support and extraordinary care Fuzzy received at Countryside Manor of Bristol.
