Victor George, 79, of Holden, MA, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, after a period of declining health. He was born in Worcester, the youngest child of Vangel and Sophie George. Though he moved to Holden in 1980, he always considered Worcester his real home.

He was predeceased by brothers Steven and Theodore. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Elaine, he leaves behind his children and their spouses: Jennifer Cote (Michael), Michael George (Kerrina), Julie Reno (Michael), and Matthew George (Lindsey). He is also survived by sisters, Florence Rucho, Jeannette Harvey (Tom), sister’s-in-law, Frances George and Patricia Chaput. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, and Mary-Gianna Cote; Nicholas and Andrew George; Katie and Theodore Reno; Morgan George, Aaron Lamoureux, Brycen and Jace George.

Victor held at least two jobs at any given time. He will be remembered by many in the Vernon Hill neighborhood as "the caretaker" at his beloved Ascension Church in Worcester, where he polished pews, mowed lawns, and shoveled snow for decades. He was proud to join the Worcester Fire Department in 1974, retiring in 2002.

He will be remembered for his strong faith, tireless work ethic, quick sense of humor (often accompanied by a mischievous smirk and twinkle in his eye), compassion for the poor, and devotion to his loved ones.

A private service under the care of Athy Memorial Home is planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local food pantry or homeless shelter.
