Nancy Suchinski, 89, widow of Stanley Suchinski died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 from COVID-19. Born Mary Ethel Nancy Soucy, Feb. 27, 1932, she was the youngest child of Sylvain and Blanche (Thibodeau) Soucy. A lifelong resident of Bristol, early married life had Nancy home raising four children.

A seamstress by trade, her Singer sewing machine was always buzzing. Whether it was Halloween costumes, dance recital outfits, shortening pants or making curtains, quilts and doll cloths - Nancy used her skills for many who she knew and loved. Once her children were grown, she worked outside the home and eventually opened Nancy's Curtain Shop on Collins Road in Bristol. Nancy had a passion for crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She was very insistent on reading the Bristol Press everyday and was quite cross if for some reason her paper was not available.

There was no bigger joy for Nancy than when she became a grandmother. She marveled at all they were and always enjoyed their company and their stories. She was very proud of each and every one of them. For quite a few years she was blessed to enjoy being a great grandmother as well.

Nancy was a no nonsense, straight shooter with a strong opinion, a big heart and a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh and always wanted to be where the fun was. She was also a very loyal and dedicated friend to many.

Her family will miss her dearly as she is now reunited with the love of her life, Stanley who died in March of 2018. Nancy leaves son Brian Suchinski and wife Donna Friday of Bristol, son Michael Suchinski and wife Debbie of Terryville, daughter Cindi Haire of Cromwell, as well as daughter-in-law Alecia Schubert of South Carolina. She is predeceased by son, Bruce Suchinski. She was a proud Grammy to Kendra Dull, Kristine Suchinski, Katie Haire, Luke Suchinski and Sam Suchinski as well as Great-Grammy to Joey Brooker and Renee Singleton. She also leaves a brother, Francis Soucy of Bristol. She was predeceased by brothers Sylvio Soucy, Guy Soucy, Roland Soucy and sisters Lorraine Bragdon, and Theresa Gelormino.

The family would like to extend many heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Village Green. Whether it was shoulder rubs, braiding her hair, making her something special to eat or just including her in your conversations, you genuinely made our mother feel loved and cared for in the years since our dad passed. Due to the pandemic, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life and burial will be held in the Spring.
