Laurea Geraldine (Ruel) Esau, 67, wife of Charles Esau of Plainville passed away November 16, 2021 after a short illness. She was born June 7, 1954 in Burlington, VT and was a daughter of the late Lionel and Cecile (Couture) Ruel. She recently retired following 20 years at Beth El Temple of West Hartford. A graduate of Terryville High School, she served in the U.S. Army after attending Tunxis Community College. Besides her husband Charles, Laurea is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Staff Sergeant Brandon and Stephanie Esau of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, a brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Marilyn Ruel of Bristol, a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Peter Holden of Bristol, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Sharon Esau of NJ, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Yvonne Ruel, Denese D. Ruel and Denise M. Ruel and a brother, Albert Ruel. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 9-11am followed by a service at 11am at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.
