Donna Marie McIntyre (Johnson) passed away at The Pines in Bristol on Sept. 23, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 77. She was born on Oct. 29, 1943 in Middletown. She was the second of three daughters of the late Robert W. and Agnes M. (Hunt) Johnson. She loved her younger years in Southern California where her father was stationed with the Marine Corps. In 1960 the family moved to North Carolina where she graduated from Camp Lejeune High School. After high school she moved to Conn. to care for family and remained there until her passing. She worked at Newington Children's Hospital prior to her marriage to William S. McIntyre in 1966. They were married over 33 years prior to his passing in 1999. Donna was a stay at home mom involved in Scouting and other activities with her children. She also worked at a video store for a few years as well. Donna loved playing cards, Yahtzee, building puzzles and spending time with her family. She loved craft fairs and made Angels and other crafts she sold at craft fairs. She enjoyed her weekly coffee and Yahtzee games with her best friend of 50 years Rhoda Herrick, who recently passed. For those who loved Donna, her loss will be painful, but they are grateful for the time spent with her and all the memories they made.
Donna is survived by her son Robert McIntyre (Denise) of Plainville; her daughter Laura (Jeff) Leger of Bristol; three grandchildren: Joshua McIntyre, Kathryn McIntyre, and Morgan Leger; two sisters, Patricia (Glen) Sitz of Oregon and Margaret (Peg) (Ralph) Taddeo of Bristol; brother-in-law George (Buddy) McIntyre of Kensington as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the country. Besides her husband William and parents Robert and Agnes, Donna is predeceased by her brother-in-Law David McIntyre.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol. A funeral service will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021 at the funeral home for a funeral home service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
