Peggy (Torhan) Steciak

Peggy (Torhan) Steciak, 99, peacefully passed away from natural causes on Sept. 8, 2021 at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain where she had been a resident for several years. The family would like to thank the staff at The Manor for their compassionate and quality care during the time Peggy resided there.

Born in Ukraine, Peggy emigrated to the U.S. following WWII with her husband John Steciak, who pre-deceased her in 2011. They were both longtime parishioners at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church.  She was employed by New Britain General Hospital for many years, retiring in the early 1980s. She loved cooking and watching old Westerns.

She leaves behind 2 sons, John Jr., of New Britain, and Rob and his wife, Cheryl, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., along with 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Christine, Deborah, Tyler, and Matthew, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by Funeral Prayer  Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Glastonbury.
