John S. Folcik, Jr.

John S. Folcik, Jr. , 73 of Westbrook, Conn., passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 24, 2021. John was born in New Britain, Conn., on Feb. 14, 1948, the son of the late John S. Folcik, Sr. and Mary (Bitel) Folcik.

He is survived by his son Jason Folcik and his wife Regina Folcik, and his grandson Jason Folcik, all of Bristol. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Folcik of Westbrook and Maryanne DeLorenzo and her husband Anthony J. DeLorenzo, Jr. of Westbrook; his niece Deann DeLorenzo and his nephew Jeff DeLorenzo, both of Hohenwald, Tenn., and Gregg DeLorenzo and his wife Stacy DeLorenzo of Westbrook. He also leaves a great nephew, three great nieces and a great-great niece.

After graduating from Bristol Eastern High School, John attended A.I. Prince Technical school in Hartford. With a few high school friends in 1965, he was a founding member and bass guitar player of the band The Squires and with the band drove to NYC to cut their only album. After leaving the band, John worked for his family at Rowley Spring in Bristol, and later at Connecticut Spring in Farmington. He started his own Mechanical Design Engineering Company and later retired. After retiring to Westbrook with his sister Joan, John and his brother-in-law Anthony would travel to area yard sales every Saturday. He loved to read and enjoyed traveling with his family, often to Florida and Tennessee.

There will be a private celebration of life for John at a future date, and his ashes will be buried next to his parents at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bristol. As John wished, please make any donations to the “Westbrook Ambulance Association, 1316 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.”
