John Guy Chamberland (“Guy”), 68, of Thousand Palms, Calif., joined his heavenly father in comfort and surrounded by love on June 17, 2021 in Palm Desert, Calif.
He recently became a permanent resident of Thousand Palms, Calif., in 2020 with his wife of 44 years, Karen Chamberland, to join his only daughter, Sara Rose Chamberland, and only grandson, Desmond Maurice Cahill, of Palm Desert.
Guy was born Jan. 24, 1953, in St. Agatha, Maine, the third child of five of the late Maurice and Laurette (Cote) Chamberland.
He joins his parents and his only sister, Linda (Chamberland) Dupere.
In addition to his spouse, Karen, daughter Sara and grandson Desmond, he leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, James and Alice Chamberlain of Bristol, Conn.; his brother, Kenneth Chamberland of Torrington, Conn., and his brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Laura Chamberland of Torrington, along with many nieces and nephews.
Guy was a proud veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a dedicated USPS employee for 36 years and quite often sang “The mail must go through.”
He was fortunate to retire at 55 and enjoyed his time tinkering with home projects, gardening and cooking. He always made the time to spend with cherished family and friends. Everyone who met Guy enjoyed his presence and always commented on his ability to have an engaging worthwhile conversation. Guy was the epitome of dependability. If it could be done he’d figure it out. He was both humble and intelligent, funny and deep. He was loyal and adventurous.
He will be sorely missed. Heaven earned a good one.
Services are tentatively planned for late Spring of 2022 in St. Agatha, Maine.
