Celebrating the life of Dorothy (Naughton) Peck.

Dorothy “Dottie” Peck - loving wife, mother, and grandmother - has peacefully passed away at her home in Port Charlotte, Fla. A New Britain, Conn. native, Dottie was an avid reader who loved to dance, spend afternoons at the dog track or casino, and was quite the poker player. To her friends, Dottie was a great listener and generous with her time and laughter. On a snowy night, after a three-month courtship, she eloped with the love of her life, Warren. For more than 59 years, they’ve laughed more than cried through life’s ups and downs.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Warren; her three daughters, Pamela, Jennifer, and Amanda; her son-in-law, Steven; and her five adored grandchildren: Marshall, Connor, Jarrod, Charlotte, and Caroline. She’s predeceased by her sister Mae, and brothers Edward and Robert.

Dottie was a 14-year stage-four colon cancer survivor, and defied all odds in her recent battle with cancer. Tiny but mighty and stoic in her resolve, Dottie instilled a strong work ethic in her daughters, adding to strive in all areas of their lives. Her proudest moments were seeing all three daughters graduate from the University of South Florida. Dottie was an assistant manager at Walmart for more than 20 years, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte. In retirement, she and Warren traveled to visit and dote on their grandchildren - making wonderful lasting memories that her family will cherish forever.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date; share your memories of Dottie at www.dignitymemorial.com .

The family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library ( www.imaginationlibrary.com ) which provides 1 million free books every month to children around the world.
