Diane (Segreto) Connolly

Diane (Segreto) Connolly, of Bristol, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her daughters Allison Pope and Meegan Martin, and her step-daughter Katherine Connolly.

Diane was born and raised in Bristol, graduating from Bristol High School in 1949. Diane had an avid love for swimming that influenced her life greatly. As a teen she was a dedicated swimming competitor, as well as a lifeguard with Bristol Parks and Recreation. As an adult she was a champion coach in the Central Conn. Swim League, the Bristol Central High School girl’s and boy’s swim teams, and in the Yankee Swim League. She also proudly taught young children how to swim at the Memorial Boulevard School. In 2010, Diane was inducted into the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame. Despite an array of professional accomplishments, Diane’s proudest moments with swimming consisted of teaching, coaching, and cheering on her own children and grandchildren.

Diane is survived by her daughters Holly Thrower and her husband Michael of Bristol, Marilyn Wright of Hollywood, Fla., Patrice Heuschkel of Collinsville; her sons Kenneth Wright of Fla., and Sean Wright and his wife Lori of Plymouth; her step children Cornelius Connolly and his wife Wendy of Bristol, Maureen Connolly of Plainville, and Margaret Miller of Plainville. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Diane’s family would like to thank the staff at Jefferson House for their kind and compassionate care. Private services will be arranged by Scott Funeral Home of Terryville with burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery of Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association of Southington.
