Elizabeth Jane (Platt) Day, 90, of Terryville, wife of the late Harold “Bill” William Day Jr. died Monday August 3, 2020 at Cook Willow Health Center, Plymouth. Betty, as she was so well known, was born July 17, 1930 in Waterbury, CT. She was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Hanlon) Platt. She served as a member of the Terryville Congregational “Church Mice”. She is survived by her daughter, Sharlene Ann (Williams) Belanger and her husband Roger of Salem, VA; her sons, Robert William Day and his wife Pam of Lexington Park, MD and Bruce John Day and his wife Patty of Waterbury; her sister, Hazel Meehan of Woodbury, she also leaves 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, which she was affectionately known as “Meme” as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Churchill and her brother, Jack Platt. Betty enjoyed knitting slippers for her family and friends and kept herself entertained by playing setback and bingo.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the West Cemetery, Plymouth, with a gathering to celebrate her life to follow at the Pavilion in Black Rock State Park, Thomaston. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Cook Willow for the special care they provided their mother during the time she lived there.
