Thomas Edward Gwillim "Teg"

After a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas Edward Gwillim “Teg” passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and friends on Nov. 21, 2018, at the age of 68.

Teg was born on Oct. 25, 1950. He was the son of Dorothy Gwillim of Bristol and the late Thomas R. Gwillim. He graduated from Bristol Central High School in 1968, and attended Fairfield University. He worked as tennis professional in Ridgefield and later owned companies in Bristol including Connecticut Clean Room.

Teg was an accomplished athlete. He won the Bristol City Tennis Championship in doubles several times and was a scratch golfer. Teg enjoyed sharing his love of tennis and golf with others. He was a valued friend to many and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Maria, and mother, Dorothy, are his brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Kelly; step daughter, Melanie Alvarez and her husband, Steven; step-grandchildren, Gabriel and Athena; nephews and nieces, Jonathon, Audrey, and Collin.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at the Chippanee Golf Club, 6 Marsh Rd., Bristol.
