Mr. Raymond J. Merchant Jr., 92, beloved husband of Joyce (Ricker) Merchant, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. Born in Rochester, N.H. on April 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Raymond and Emma (Wheeler) Merchant Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was the owner of Ray’s Autobody in Bristol for many years. He enjoyed square dancing and camping and has been a Wolcott resident for over 70 years. Besides his devoted wife of 74 years, Ray leaves his five children, Bonnie and her husband, Domenic Lombardi, of Torrington, Steven and his wife, Linda Merchant, of Plymouth, William and his wife, Renee Merchant, of Wolcott, Robert and his wife, MaryJane Merchant, of Northfield, David and his wife, Jacqueline Merchant, of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Merchant. Family would like to thank Ray’s caregivers at Ingraham Manor for the excellent care they gave him. Private Funeral Services were held. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home in Wolcott has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements. Visit  for online condolences.
