John F. Simeone

John F. Simeone, 97, of Wallingford, died peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

He was the loving husband of the late Antoinette “Red” M. (Urso) Simeone.

He was born in New Haven, May 7, 1921, a son of the late Frank and Margaret (Castellano) Simeone and was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Cuno Engineering. John was a member of the American Legion and the Italian American War Vets - Molinari - Riccio Post where he was a Past Commander. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Pinta Council #5, and the former Tracy Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by his two sons, Reverend Gary F. Simeone, Pastor of St. Gregory the Great Church, Bristol, and Jeffrey J. Simeone of Arizona; his daughter, Christine Ruggieri of Arizona; his grandchildren, Jeffery Simeone of Middletown, Stacie Simeone Siano and her husband, Dominic of Milford; his great-grandchildren, Giada and Carmine; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Simeone; and his sisters, Edna Piekarski and Marie Stegos.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Ext., Wallingford, on Thursday, August. 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his son at 11 a.m.

Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, CT 06010.
