Alfred K. “Perk” Talmadge, Jr., 88, of Bristol, husband of Carole (Brandt) Talmadge, died Monday, July 23, 2018, at the Bristol Hospital.

Perk was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Bristol and was a son of the late Alfred K. Talmadge, Sr. and Edith (Gutska) Talmadge. He was a Bristol resident all his life and retired from New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol. Gifted with a beautiful voice, Perk sang in many Bristol Boys & Girls Club O.M. Shows, as soloist at his church, and at numerous other events. Perk always spoke fondly of his involvement with the Bristol Boys & Girls Clubs and loved Camp Wangum, participating in its construction and serving as a camp counselor. He enjoyed going to the casino, crossword puzzles, fishing, hiking and he loved to exercise by walking around town and at Westfarms mall.

In addition to his parents, Perk was predeceased by a brother, Charles Talmadge and a sister, Joan Chapman.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Perk is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law; Todd M. and Marina Talmadge of Hendersonville, Tenn., Timothy B. Talmadge of Cambodia, and Peter W. and Monyneth Talmadge of Bristol; a daughter, Holly Susan Talmadge of Newington; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 28, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol, followed by interment at West Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, 255 West St., Bristol, CT 06010.
