John “Jack, J.T., Dad, Grampa” Mullin, a lifelong resident of Bristol, passed away after a short illness on June 27, 2018, at his home, with his loving wife of 51 years by his side. Jack was born on Feb. 16, 1940, in Bristol, to the late Doris (Spencer) and Matthew Mullin.
Jack was the owner of JT Mullin Construction and Summer Glen, both in Bristol. Jack graduated from Bristol High School in 1958, and immediately following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion – the “Seabees.”
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Tracy) Mullin; son Stephen Mullin and his wife, Erin; daughter Kristen Mullin Dionne and her husband, Marcel; son Brian Mullin; He is also survived by his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy; Nathan, Madison, and Conner Lawley and Presley and Taylor Johnson.
He leaves behind a brother, Matthew Mullin and his wife, Kathy of Ellington; a sister Kathy Buscarello and her husband Marcel of Golden, Colo. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Peter Mullin.
A typical day, and one of his greatest passions in life, was spending the day at his gravel bank on Clark Avenue. With so many friends and visitors stopping by, each day brought new stories, old stories, and much joy to Jack. Spending time with family made Jack the happiest. When the children and grandchildren were with him, his smile never faded.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Bristol.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Jack’s family will gather privately at the funeral home Saturday morning and have requested that their friends meet them at church.
