Steve W. Washburn 56 of Burlington, husband of Krista (Lavigne) Washburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25 at home with his family by his side. Steve was born in Bristol on Aug. 22, 1961 to the late Benjamin F. & Marie R. Washburn (Roy).
A lifelong resident of Burlington, he graduated from Lewis Mills High School in 1979. He worked in the Spring Industry as a very gifted tool and die maker, most recently working for Gemco Manufacturing in Southington, Conn.
Steve enjoyed life and knew how to make everyone around love and live life to the fullest. Steve’s life’s passions we’re spending time with friends and family, riding his motorcycle, golfing, playing pool and bowling; he was also an avid drummer throughout his life. Steve was also the 1977 World Champion of Soap Box Derby, in which he later shared his passion of racing with his children, nephews and many close friends in the Soap Box community
Besides his wife, Steve is survived by his two children, Heather Washburn of Burlington, Vermont; Nathan Washburn of Burlington, Conn., as well as Krista’s children Matthew and his wife Stephanie Murphy of Bristol; Megan Murphy of Plainville; Kassie Schilling of Burlington; three grandchildren, Natalie Washburn, Riley and Harper Murphy. He is also survived by his sister Lynn Perotti of Bristol; nephew Christopher Perotti of Bristol; a brother, William and his wife Anna Washburn of Canaan, Tyler Washburn of Canaan and a niece, Ashley Washburn, also of Canaan. He was predeceased by his nephew Benjamin D. Perotti;
Friends may call at Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Unionville, Tuesday, Jan. 30 5-8 p.m. A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 11:30 a.m. at the Burlington Congregational Church, 286 Spielman Highway, Route 4, Burlington.
