John G. Errico, aged 85 years, of New Britain passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Nov. 30, 2017, in Hartford Hospital.
John was born in Hartford on Aug. 25, 1932. He was the son of the late John J. Errico and the late Sophie Kyc Errico Dinunzio. He graduated from the St. Augustine School and from Buckley High School. He served in the Army stateside during the Korean conflict. He worked at the Hartford Insurance Company until his retirement in 1994. He was a current member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. John was a former member of St. Maurice Church, New Britain where he served as a eucharistic minister for many years, as well as helping to decorate the church on special occasions. In retirement, he volunteered at New Britain General Hospital in various roles. His favorite retirement role, however, was playing Santa Claus in many functions, given his prodigious white beard. He visited the Hospital’s nursery and the employees’ holiday parties as Santa, bringing joy to many people by sharing his love of the Christmas spirit.
