Richard J. “Dick” Williams, 81, of Holiday, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Valois) Williams for 54 years. Born in Bristol, Conn., he was a son of the late Abraham and Elsie (McCurdy) Williams.
Richard was a Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a telephone repairman for Southern New England Telephone Co. before retiring. Richard was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Besides his wife, Richard leaves behind his two children, Leslie Heble and her husband, Jason, of Arizona, and Brian Williams and his wife, Kimberly, of Rhode Island; four grandchildren, Cody, Sara, Brianna and Alexandria; a brother, John Williams; and a sister, Diane Vickers. He was the brother of the late Eugene and George Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, R.I. Burial with military honors will be in the R.I. Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, R.I. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Companions of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042 will be appreciated.
