Ella (Wenzloff) Collins, 103, of New Britain, widow of William E. Collins, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain. Born in Hartford, Ella was a Newington resident for over 60 years. She was a member of the former Stanley Memorial Church in New Britain where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, communion assistant, former church deacon and was a member of the “Friday Nighters” at the church.

Surviving is a son, Ronald Collins and his wife Beverly of Forestville; two daughters, Sharon Passig and her husband Russell of Plainville and Lauretta Stadler and her husband Richard of Forestville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, William, she was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Shirley Kelly; a stepson, William “Sonny” Collins Jr.; a sister-in-law and her best friend, Edna Wenzloff; a sister and four brothers.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of family. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lucian’s Home, 532 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT 06053 or to Monsignor Bojnowski Manor, 50 Pulaski St., New Britain, CT 06053. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain, is assisting with arrangements.
