Robert S. Fenton Sr., 91, died Monday, June 12, at Cook Willow Nursing Home in Plymouth.
Through his many stays there, Cook Willow became like a second home to him. He always raved about the great staff, how they took great care of him and the food was fantastic!!! He was very grateful for all who cared for him at the Willow.
Bob was a father of five: his three sons, Robert Scott Fenton Jr, Keith Fenton, Kyle Fenton, and two daughters, Janet Fenton (predeceased) and Jennifer Barrett. Bob also had his eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with another on the way and many close friends.
Bob and his wife, Sally, moved to Eli Terry Retirement Center 30 years ago. They were one of the first residents at the center. During their 30 year stay, they made several special friendships, a family of sort.
Bob spent much of his time as a campaign coordinator for local and state officials. He also worked on Plymouth’s house renumbering committee and was a member of the Terryville Republican Town Committee. One of Bob’s accomplishments was his time working on Plymouth’s comprehensive water study which resulted in water being delivered to Fall Mountain. Bob was also a passionate journalist and will be remember in Terryville for his countless newspaper articles.
His dearest friends, whose friendship he cherished, Bonnie and George Castle, say he will be remembered “for his intelligence, his wit and his numerous life stories.”
A gathering for family and friends will be set for later this summer. Donations in his name may be made to the Cook Willow Nursing Home staffs break room.
