Amedeo Francalangia

Amedeo Francalangia of New Britain, beloved husband of Emilia (Ricciardi) Francalangia, passed away peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Born in Campodipietra, Province of Campobasso, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Nicolini) Francalangia. Amedeo was formerly employed by TRW’s Marlin-Rockwell division from 1951 to 1984.

He enjoyed a long retirement with his family and friends. Gardening, making wine, playing cards, bowling, and playing bocce with his friends at the Italian Club in Berlin were some of his favorite pastimes. He was also a lifelong member of the Campodipietra Society in New Britain and organized numerous events and activities for the Society. Amedeo was a member of St. Ann Church.

Surviving are his wife Emilia and two children, Antonio Francalangia and his wife Christine of Kensington, Eleanor Maulucci and her husband Robert of East Granby; a brother, Carl Francalangia and his wife Antoinette of Plainville; six grandchildren, Michael Francalangia and his wife Barbara-Jean, David Francalangia and his wife Janis, James Francalangia, Sarena Maulucci, Robert Maulucci Jr. and Dino Maulucci; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Joseph and Thomas Francalangia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Cefaratti and Lucia Pietrantuono, and a brother, Michael Francalangia.

Funeral services are Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home at 444 Farmington Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., St. Ann Church, 101 North St., New Britain.
