Gregory M. Tims

Gregory M. Tims, 68, formerly of Terryville, died Feb. 5, 2017, at his home in Gig Harbor, Wash.

He was born July 9, 1948, in New Britain, the son of the late Myron W. Tims and Julia (Dudik) Tims Krenicki.

Greg was raised in Terryville and graduated from Terryville High School with the Class of 1967 and later attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Greg enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 22 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1992. During his tenure in the Navy he received his bachelor’s degree in marine biology. He returned to Connecticut for a brief time and then made his home in Gig Harbor since 1995. His second career was in the healthcare field.

Greg loved the outdoors, the ocean and everything in it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, cooking and could play any musical instrument he picked up.

He leaves his sister, Patricia Chalpin, and her husband, John, of Stratham, N.H. and cousins.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at noon Monday, April 17, 2017, at St. Michael Ukrainian Cemetery, in Terryville. Friends are respectfully invited.
