Mark P. Lafontaine

Mark P. Lafontaine, 62, of Southington, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Autumn Lake Health Care in New Britain.

He was born on May 23, 1954, the son of Irene (Hubert) Lafontaine of Southington and the late Gerard Lafontaine. Mark worked for EDC in Plantsville for several years, then went to Kuhn Employment Opportunities. He was a member of SARC, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Southington, a volunteer for the New Britain Swim Club and the Plantsville Bowling League. He was a diehard Hartford Whalers and New York Yankees fan. He was very involved with the Connecticut Special Olympics and had volunteered in many events.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two sisters, Andree Levesque and husband Alfred and Linda Butler, of Bristol and of Newington. He also leaves his cherished nieces and nephews, Todd Levesque and wife Kate, Jennifer O’ Day and husband Adam, and Sean Butler and fiancée Alicia; his great-nieces and nephews Cody, Andrew, Morgan, Evan, Ethan, Ryan, Sarah, Gabriella and Lyla.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mark’s memory to Connecticut Special Olympics, 2666 State St., Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
