Add the Futures Collegiate Baseball League to the list of leagues which won’t be starting on time.

The FCBL announced on Wednesday that its original start date of May 27 has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. No new date has been set, but the league remains optimistic about playing at some point this summer.

“As soon as we have clarity on guidelines and procedures for playing baseball, we will look to adapt and begin,” Futures League Commissioner Joe Paolucci said in a statement. “While all scenarios and contingencies are under consideration, we remain hopeful.”

The FCBL is currently comprised of seven teams from various parts of New England, including the New Britain Bees, who joined the league after coming over from the independent professional Atlantic League in October. The league said it will continue to monitor guidance from governmental and health officials and will update the status of the 2020 season when more information becomes available.
